The Bible Is A Light

In this series we are going to consider several metaphors that are found in the Bible that are used to describe God’s word. As with our recent study on Metaphors for the church, each example in this series will teach some unique and important truth about the Bible that will help us appreciate it more and better understand the role it should play in our lives.

THE BIBLE IS A LIGHT

When do men need lights?

What kinds of darkness do we face in human life? What do some of these verses suggest? Matthew 4:13-16, Luke 1:79, John 3:19-20, Acts 26:18, Romans 13:12, Ephesians 5:8-20, Proverbs 4:19, Ecclesiastes 2:13-14, 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5.

Read about the Bible as a light in the following verses: Psalm 119:105, Proverbs 6:20-23, 2 Peter 1:15-19, 1 John 1:-5-7.

How does the Bible give us hope?

How does the Bible remove ignorance?

How does the Bible expose sin?

How does the Bible give us wisdom?

What obligation do we have according to 1 John 1:7?

What other obligations can you think of as you consider that God’s word is a light?
