Some attempts to make a chronology of all the events in the last week of the life of Jesus have nothing happening on Wednesday. We have just a few events that might have happened on Wednesday though some place them late Tuesday:
- The Jewish leaders plot to kill Jesus.
- Jesus is anointed at Bethany.
- Judas agrees to betray Him.
Jesus knows He is about to die and tries to convey this to His followers. In Matthew 26:2 He told them plainly, “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified”.
The Jewish authorities have decided to kill him but said “not during the feast”. Yet, ultimately Jesus was arrested and crucified right in the middle of the feast. Perhaps this shows that God, not they, are in control of what is happening.

Jesus said His body was being prepared for His burial when anointed by the woman (Mary?) with the oil. Chief priests want Him dead, Judas has agreed to assist them – all is getting in place for God’s plan.
